I’v been hearing about how so many of us are  feeling lethargic, unmotivated, or worn out. I realized we are not really made to rocket straight through winter, ablaze with energy. Look at nature– the ground, plants and animals are deep at rest. That is the natural way of things. We need to spend some time with the long nights, the moon, solitude, the bare earth, stillness. Be easier on yourself.

We tend to forget that we are still a part of nature and our biological clock isn’t set to perform 4 seasons at rocket speed…we need to listen to the body and nature more.

I’m not so sure that my roots are down there riotous, but I’ll have to trust Rumi.  And while my body and Mother Nature may be saying “rest” my life and the world in general doesn’t slow down.  I’m feeling stressed, over-burdened, and overwhelmed.  I’m struggling to keep focus, to be appreciative of what I do have, but once again I have to urge to say “screw all this”,and run.  I’ve noticed that feeling more and more often and I think it’s trying to tell me something.  Remember the Talking Heads from the 1980s?  In the song Once in a Lifetime there’s a lyric that goes “And you may ask yourself, well, how did I get here?” Now that makes perfect sense to me. How did I get here? As in, wow, I didn’t think this is where I’d be at this point in life.

I think that feeling is trying to tell you that you are in the wrong place on some things in your life. It’s an impetus to change. You sound tired, dear heart. Tired of struggling though life and the obstacles we face alone. You have done it for so long, sweetie. It is OK to be tired of it. so allow yourself that feeling. xoxo
