I’m secretly happy that my plans for tonight got cancelled. Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing at all.
“Oh, I just want what we all want: a comfortable couch, a nice beverage, a weekend of no distraction and a book that will stop time, lift me out of my quotidian existence and alter my thinking forever”
— Elizabeth Gilbert
Oh yes, this describes me perfectly. In the hectic years when my son was young, I dreamed of a weekend like that. However, I always carved out time in my day to read and I taught my son to do the same.

Oh yes, we are kindred spirits! Please tell Anna that I’ve found a few
Arto Paasilinna books translated into English and can’t wait to read them after her recommendation. I hope you enjoy the Dells. I visited there many years ago when I was a child. I still remember the ride on the “Ducks” and seeing the rock formations.

Lisa, this is exactly how my Friday night went. And I thoroughly enjoyed it too.

I’m with you, Sandy! I hope you’re enjoying your retirement, but I must say I wish I could find someone like you to work with again.

Lisa, my retirement doesn’t start for another month. And I plan to start it by walking the beach at Grand Haven with a book abd a great cup of coffee. Nothing like being alone (mentally) and enjoying the soothing sound of water.

Ah, I thought it had started already, but one more month isn’t bad either. That sounds like a perfect way to kick off your retirement! There’s something so soothing about the water. That’s one of the negatives about Indy–no real bodies of water. Enjoy every moment of it (and don’t let Dick drive you crazy now that you’ll be home every day!)

That quote does describe you perfectly. Now only if you had Elizabeth Gilbert’s book deals!
