It is three at night.
I have something to say.
You are so valuable.
You shine out.
You are a magic star.
You are a body of blood made beautiful.
How I admire, sit back and adore you.
How thirsty I am for that.
How you feed me.
-Anne Sexton
The lovely and talented Charlotte got me thinking about Anne Sexton this week. Not only does she share wonderful poems, she writes beautiful and moving poems of her own. I must share more of her work here soon!
Do you ever get ear worms, you know, songs that get stuck in your head? It happens to me all the time. Just now, reading that poem made me think of the Manhattan’s song Shining Star.
I loved that song!
I unexpectedly have the day off tomorrow and one of the things I want to do is make a big pot of chili. I found a very promising new recipe, but I have to hunt down dried ancho chilies. For some reason, things like that are hard to find around here. This is the 12th largest city in the country and there’s a wide variety of grocery stores close by. I’m sure I’ll find them…eventually. 😉 I’m feeling all craft-y as well, so I’m going to get the necessary supplies to make a fall wreath for my front door and a Dia de los Muertos sugar skull pumpkin. What’s that, you ask?
My pumpkin is going to look something like that, but cooler, because I’m artsy like that. 🙂 I used to make things all of the time. I’ve forgotten how therapeutic it is to be creative and get your hands a little dirty. Finished project photo will be forthcoming, I promise.
